In the workshop space we host regular art and music workshops for
Irish speaking children and adults. There are weekly Irish language
classes catering for all levels with the emphasis on conversation
and recreational use as well as art and music classes.
Other groups based at Cultúrlann
are:
Comhluadar
Comhluadar, the umbrella group for Irish language families meet
monthly. There are art and music activities as well as days out
for the children and an opportunity for parents to socialise over
a cup of tea. Irish speaking families are welcome.

Cór Loch Lao
Belfast's only Irish language choir started at Cultúrlann
in 2001
Directed by Dr. Manus O Baoill, it has attracted upwards of fifty
members from Ireland and abroad. It is a four part choir and meets
every Tuesday night to practice a varied selection of choral music
from traditional to contemporary. New members are welcome throughout
the year and learners of Irish are offered linguistic support. Cór
Loch Lao has performed many public performances to date and has
developed musical ties with other Celtic language choirs in Ireland,
Wales and Scotland.

An Ciorcal Amhránaíochta
Traditional Singing Circle
This is an informal way to share songs in Irish. Those interested
in singing come together on the last Sunday of each month to teach,
learn and enjoy traditional Irish songs. A friendly welcome is extended
to all levels of Irish speakers. A spin-off from this circle is
An Féile Amhránaíochta
- now an annual event. Supported by Iomairt Cholm Cille, singers from all the Gaeltacht
areas in
Ireland and Scotland come to teach songs from their own areas. As
well as
workshops there is a public concert and an informal singing circle.
